My ancestor died in the joint hospital in 1900, aged 18. Can anyone tell me a bit more about this hospital. Thank you

Do you mean the Combination Hospital ?

If so, this was a hospital operated through the poor law by a "combination" of several (usually) adjacent parishes operating together to provide the services.

See  http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Renfrewshire/

Unfortunately according to the staff at the Mitchell in Glasgow there are no known patient records for the Crookston Unit although they do have some minute books from the administrative side.

I've tried googling this and not finding what I am looking for. Does anyone know if the 'joint hospital' was the Bridge of Weir Hospital in Kilmacolm?

This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.
