Benjamin Jagger,son,20 yrs,Table cover weaver,b Bradford
Hannah Jagger,dau.11 yrs,Worsted spinner,b.Southeowram.
John Ratcliffe,lodger,37 yrs, Worsted twister.

RG10/4389   folio 76    page 7

Bryan.

Hi Bryan

Yes I think this is her!  I have been to the archives at Wakefield and viewed the original marriage certificate and in the margin the priest has very kindly pencilled the word "whitegate" next to Hannah's name.  Now I need to get to the library to have a look at the Census page.  I'd like to see if there were any other Jaggers living nearby.

Thank you very much

To update and close this one -

Yes this is her but sadly the 1861 Census pages no longer exist (I couldn't find them at the National Archives) but can happily report that Hannah lived until the ripe old of age of 85 dying in 1945.

I now know that her husband Jarvis had died in 1864 and would love to find documentary proof of Jarvis' birth but to date have not been able to :-(

We seem to have a number of children called Hannah Jagger registered in the Halifax Registration District within the timescale:
December quarter 1859 - page 376
March quarter 1861 - page 442
September quarter 1861 - page 497

And reverting to the 1861 census - Piece 3302, Folio 17 - Jan_down_south

Northowram
William Jagger - 22 - Stone quarryman
Mary Ann - 19 - Housewife Business
Jannah - 1 month

All born Northowram.

Hi BumbleB

I've only just seen your reply and thanks for your efforts  :) but I have now identified "my" Hannah.  She is the one born at the end of 1859.

I'm now on the hunt for Henry Jagger who witnessed her wedding and who was, incorrectly, noted as her father by the priest.

You say that the most likely candidate for Hannah in 1861 is the one living with Samuel, Mary H, grandparents John and Mary -9/3303, folio 46, page 2.  BUT Mary H is shown as daughter to John and Mary AND unmarried, and the children as grandchildren.  So she is either not the mother of Samuel or Hannah or they are her illegitimate children.  Have you got a birth certificate for either Hannah or Samuel to verify the situation?

Added - I see from your other thread regarding Jervis, that you have Hannah's birth certificate, which I assume names her father as Jervis.

Yes, I did think so.  Have you also got Jarvis's marriage certificate?
