Charles E Steere employment information 1920/40
« on: Monday 25 August 14 15:03 BST (UK) »
Hi people

I am trying to find out the occupation(s) of Charles E Steere, at 7 Willow Hey, Maghull, L31 (a suburb to the north of Liverpool).
He was born in Walton, Liverpool, in 1894 and died in Ormskirk, Lancs., in 1949.

Can anyone access the street directories or other records for me and try to find out what work he did please?

Thanks a lot, John

Not answering your question but there is a probate record for Charles Edwin Steere of 271 Streatham London died 10 July 1949 at 8 Dodds Lane Maghull, Lancashire. Administration with will London 9 August to Mary Ftances Steere - widow.  Effects £ 500

Maghull wasn't covered by the Liverpool Kelly's/Gore's Directories in those days so this won't be easy

Hi,

1911 census might show his occupation (if still in the country); also if he married it will be on the certificate.  It might also be shown on his death certificate.

There's also the children's birth certificates of course - they should show the father's occupation.

I think he married Hortense Fisher in 1920 and there are 3 probable children in the birth indexes

Hi again

Thanks to all who replied, most grateful.

It is for a friend who is living in France so I will not be ordering any certs unless he asks me to. The info does seem to point to the person concerned.

thanks, John
