Hi amandar

From your profile you come from Leeds

Borthwick institute at York university library have a lot of transcribed parish's in books, original registers for parish of Sherburn in Elmet and surrounding parishes also the BT's for the same parishes, plus Bond Allegations, Wills probate, and other doc's like deeds etc.

Their reading rooms are open 5 days a week Mon to Friday till 4.45 pm and Microfilm room open till 10 pm, 7 days a week Sat & Sunday included (Free parking at Weekend)

With Sherburn being so close to Knottingley, West Yorkshire parishes may come into play.

Leeds West Yorkshire Arcives Service (WYAS) Leeds nears Birstall retail park, Wakefield and Huddersfield in Metro Kirklees have the biggest collection on PR's micro film at the Library with WYAS

Also YAS Claremont house behind the Leeds University have a mass of Registers on Micro film and Book form for Parishes in West Yorkshire and East and North Yorkshire (Plus York areas) with a mountain of other bumph ( Also this place on an average day will have some of the most knowledgeable experts there is on Genealogy/Ancestry that will help you futher)

Your sat on a Ancestry gold mine for info in Leeds and near by towns/cities :)

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Ann Smith X Thomas Pearson marriage 30 Jan 1786 Sherburn in Elmet

Ann Smith Parents James Smith and Faith Oldfield

There could be a mix up here with dades parish registers

Some Full dades parishes like Tadcaster with baptisms of siblings gave the Father name and the grandfathers name

Half dades registers (Maybe Sherburn in Elmet) only gave the fathers name at marriage

Therefore the vicar could have mixed up the fathers name and the grandfathers name
