Wallasey News 26/8/1916
« on: Wednesday 02 April 14 11:32 BST (UK) »
Hello

I wonder if anyone could try and find a photograph of a wounded soldier, Prv. Norman Garner, that appeared in the Wallasey News 26/8/1916 . Unfortunately I am unable to access the Wirral Archives due to the fact that I live in Canada. If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated.

If you have no luck with a look-up here is the information for research by the local council (local council Wirral is in Cheshire not Lancashire):-

Hi stapler40

I would email Wallasey Central Library as they are very helpful, the email address is:

wallasey.ref[-- at --]wirral-library.net

My great grandmother's brother, George Blackburn, married a lady called Harriet Garner.  Her parents were William Garner and Sarah Wheeler of Wallasey.  Just wondering if there could be a connection between them and Norman Garner.

Norman was b December qtr 1889 and 1891 shows his birthplace as Worth Cheshire and parents as John b 1849 Worth and Hannah b 1851 Hazel Grove

Harriet's father William was b 1848 Wallasey

The 1851 for John does not show a brother William

Hi Stapler 40

I was able to call at Wallasey library and have a print of Bugler Norman Garner from the newspaper. Unfortunately the quality isn't great as the microfilm seems to be well worn. I can send it on to you if you would like to send me a pm (personal message) with your e-mail address.

Also - let me know if you would like details of the medals awarded to him and I can send you the information.

Hope this helps

Regards
