Enhanced GROI Indexes online July 3rd
« on: Monday 23 June 14 16:46 BST (UK) »
I just saw this on Claire Santry's blog -

http://irish-genealogy-news.blogspot.co.uk/

Does anyone know how this index improves on the one currently available on Ancestry and Familysearch?

As far as I know, an important difference is that the birth indexes will have the mother's name listed for earlier years (from the early-1900s) than are available on familysearch.
O'Brien, Keogh, Byrne, Cuffe, Kelly, White, Burke, Blosset, Evans, Hetherington, Hosey, Williams, Wright, Comerford, Carey, McKeon, Litton, O'Reilly, O'Toole, Nugent, Traynor, Broughall.

As Dermo stated the mother's maiden name on birth indexes is listed from 1903 onwards.
I don't see any other difference in regards to what's on familysearch
But maybe I am wrong

I'm confused. I've just been to the Irish genealogy ie site and I'm not sure if, by ticking the acceptance box, I'm agreeing to pay for a search or whether I can search for free.
cowan, sinnott, duffy, addi, conlon, halpin, (dublin) dowling, mcdonald, donnelly (dublin, newcastle upon tyne and tyrone)

Your ok it's free
Had to do one of those type what in the box things, that could be a pain but it was a photo with a number so very easy.
Just did one search and results look nice and clear and see some for the 1950s don't know how recent it goes yet

Oh date range is up to 2013 on the example, everything is a bit slow at the moment.

Found myself 1960s, than tried my niece 1990s, found her.

Should have put up the link, took me a moment or two to find it, the site has a new look
http://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

I was hoping it would give you possible matches on old marriages but sadly not.
They have the quarters numbered rather than by month.
