Hopefully, with these various links, something will turn up.  :)

Owenwee, it's a lovely museum isn't it - well worth a visit. We have been a couple of times now and we had lovely food there also.

The reply to posting from Murney no 4.

I have looked at the record of that baptism as I had a spare credit. The record shows this Peter Lynskey was christened on 25 Nov 1856,parents listed as Patrick and Bridget Lynskey, the records may indicate only married name of mother or that she was also Lynskey.

The address was Townland of ARDROE in the Roman Catholic Parish of Kilcolman in South Mayo. The sponsors shown where Thomas Costello and Mary Kelly.

That was the only Peter Lynskey birth listed on the site, you have to be aware that the ages of people are often years out. There are no families named Lynskey left in the Townland on the 1901 census.

Heywood

Iam sure the museum has more to see now,i visited when it had only just opened enjoyed it.I must go again on my next visit to Westport hopefully later in year.

I tried to send the exact link but don't know if it worked.
On griffiths valuation, there is a Mathew Foy and a Pathrick Lynsky, in Knocksaxon Templemore Co, Mayo.

Heywood - thanks for using your credit to check the record - I don't know where to go from there - that very well could be them - I know nothing of any siblings to check, I believe Peter Joseph (William left Ireland in the year 1880 and lived in New York for 5 years returning to I think Ireland (could be England) in 1885 - I have a history from Lowell MA(Overseers of the poor) in 1886 that says as much - is there anyway to find those ship lists?  Then in 1886 he traveled from England to the US again and as far as I know never went back home again.  Not sure if this link will work:

Click on link, scroll down to pathrick lynsky, templemore, at the top of the page is a mathew foy.
so it is very likely this could be your lynsky foy connection.
as people years ago usually married someone local.
i think its worth checking out.

Cyril,

Oh yes I do see it.  First I will try searching for a Matthew Foy - umm and see if I can find the original parish records for Templemore possibly.    See Jennie Foy was Peter and Bridget's daughter, Sarah E Lynskey's, Witness at her marriage in 1911 in Clinton MA.
