Not sure if you saw my post above about the Charles Edward Halls on the very detailed Lewis tree that has death at 16 in West Ham. They must have got that from somewhere, and it fits with him dying as a teenager

Just gone into Ancestry and yes I found the Lewis Data base one but unfortunately I am not a subscribed member now so I can't access it. I am wondering where they got the 1921 death from as originally I made a rough guess from the info I had from dad and put in 1921 West Ham. It is possible they have copied mine. Still they must have some connection with the family and I would love to know who they are.
Regards
Sue

Just seen the Lewis data base with Charles Edward Halls 1905 on. His details are a copy of mine as I gave him access to my tree when I found he had my Jewish ancestors, so no new stuff.
Thanks

Hi Dawn,
Thanks for that.
I found the tree and it was Lyn Lewis's. He has included my stuff on Charles death, which of course was a guess on my part. If the theory is right and he did die in 1953 then I shall contact Lyn and let him know as nothing worse than wrong info going around.
Regards
Sue

After such a long time (the whole of my life) the mystery has been solved and it was a revelation I can tell you.
Annette (rootschat member) prompted me to consider Charles Edward did not die when I thought he did 1921-22 ish and suggested my father had not been told the truth about his brother. Annette pointed out a death in 1953 which I would not even have considered before. I sent for the certificate and even then I could not believe it was him. Lucky the occupation on it was a pensioned off Royal Navy sailor so I looked him up in the National Archives and Bingo it was him date of birth exact. So unbeknown to my father, his dear brother Charlie lived on and they never saw each other. Charlie (my uncle of course) went on to marry and have children and so I have cousins or cousins children out there somewhere. Hopefully I may find one and we can exchange information.
Thank you Annette for your help.

Hi Susan,

That last piece brought a tear to my eye & they are not even my family.
How sad for your dad & his brother having lost contact through no fault of theirs & I'm sure it is niggling you so my thoughts are with you  :-(

I came by this as I have been looking up Halls from Essex for a FB contact.
Frederick Charles b 06 Nov 1879 who had a brother William.

Any bells ringing? :-)
