Marriage St Giles in the Fields/St Martin in the Fields
« on: Thursday 13 March 14 09:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello!

Does anyone have access to marriages between 1684 and 1695 in St Martin in the Fields and St Giles in the Fields?

I am searching for the marriage of Christopher Rigg to a lady named Mary between 1684 and 1694.  Christopher's first wife was buried 10 August 1684 St Martin in the Fields and his first child with Mary was baptised in the same church 24 April 1694.  I am looking for a connection to the Fleetwood family and I know that there were Fleetwoods in the St Giles area, so I am wondering whether that is a possibility especially as records are so hard to come by.

If there is a kind person, with time to spare I would be happy to cover any expenses.  A printout of the marriage or any Fleetwood records spotted would be much appreciated.

Regards................Sue

Hi Sue

The registers for St Giles in the Fields are still at the church.

The earlier registers for St Martins in the Fields are deposited at the City of Westminster Archives but have been transcribed for the IGI.

Researchers in and around London who do look-ups are few and far between so you might have a bit of a wait for someone to physically check the registers at Westminster.

Thanks Dawn

I have had a look at the IGI and thought that the coverage might be quite good, although there does appear to be a gap in the batch numbers for that particular period, unless my information is out of date.

I was hoping that someone might possibly be going to the CWA, where I understand that the St Giles registers are on film.  I am quite happy to wait a while, but appreciate that a search might not be possible.  It is a bit of a long shot!

Kind regards...................Sue
