Would it be an Adamson from Glasson? or 'Sergeant Thomas Adamson, aged 36 years, now serving with E Company second Connecticut Regiment in the Philippine Islands (WW1 period)?'

Hello Cyril.  I notice you are looking for a Francis Adamson. I am sorry but I do not have any knowledge of a Francis.  I am also looking for some Adamsons in the same general area & hoping you may be familiar with these names that may connect your Adamsons to whom I am looking for. May be a generation back.

My interest is a George Adamson, whose daughter Ann, b: about 1755 married a Robert Stanley of Athlone or around that area.

Also searching for a Henry Adamson, Royal African Corps who wrote a letter dated 1815 from Moate Castle regarding a George Adamson Stanley, an uncle to Henry.

This may be a long short but these Adamsons may be connected to yours from around the same area.   ???

Hi Cyril, if you're still checking these posts then I am 99% sure you are related to me.  My grandmother was Julia Adamson, daughter of Thomas Adamson and Anne Digan (not Deegan, but sounds near enough).  Julia had one brother Frank, and sisters Mary, Kate, Margaret, and Josephine (who I knew as a young boy).
Josephine's daughter lives here in Moate, we chat regularly, and would be a mine of info for you for certain.  Best wishes.  Tom

Hi Maystan,

Regarding Henry Adamson of Moate.

A Henry Adamson was baptised in Moate RC church (Kilcleagh parish) on 30th June 1842.
His parents were George Adamson and Sarah Finn.
His sponsors/godparents were Catherine Greene and John Cunningham.

A Henry Adamson was baptised in Moate RC church (Kilcleagh parish) on 12th August 1832.
His parents were Henry Adamson and Anne Mahon.
His sponsors/godparents were Catherine Hafford and Robert Adamson.

A Henry Adamson married Dorothy Hafford on 30th July 1854 in Moate RC church (Kilcleagh parish).
They had two daughters, Mary b.1856, and Sarah b.1859, both baptised in Moate RC church (Kilcleagh parish).

Hafford families lived in Kilkenny West in olden times, in recent times the same surname can be found at Ballykeeran, just a couple of miles away, more than likely related to the KW clan in some way.

Hope this is useful to you.
