Holy Isalnd look up Jean Penny? c 1688

one last try!  Jean Penny married Andrew Hogg 27th October 1717 on Holy Island.  I have no details of her though.  In Andrew's will he mentions a "son-in-law" George Penny.  He didn't have a son in law of that name, so I assume it means step son. A George Penny father Henry Penny was christened on Holy Island 19th June 1713.  So did Jean marry Henry Penny first before Andrew Hogg?  I am looking for any marriage of a Jean to Henry Penny, a death of Henry Penny, and Jean's possible maiden name?

I had planned to look at Holy Island records for you today but the archives had a total power failure across the whole of the site including the museum and they evacuated the place.  I'd only just finished lunch and didn't even make it to the search room

I have the details about her marriage to Andrew Hogg, and most of the children's baptisms now - her life pre Andrew is the mystery.

I couldn't find anything about Henry or George Penny but I did find another marriage -

Feb 2nd 1709  Jean Penny to George Alder

Thinking about it now I should have looked for his burial before 1717 - perhaps next week

Thanks Christine- I've come across that before but cant see how it fits with my Jean Penny - she was Jean Penny when she married Andrew not Jean Alder.  Unless George took her name!

She could have reverted to her maiden name.  But next week I will see whether there's a death for George prior to 1717 - it might help to clarify things.
