Dear Carole,

The cousins are all wild with excitement, e-mails flying back and forth!

They asked me to tell you "You're a STAR!" and send their grateful thanks.
 :D :D :D :D :D

Linda Engelbrecht

P.S. One of them has something to show that a many times great grandfather,
also John Souter (only one "T") was "Head Gardener" at the Castle in Edinburgh in 1745 and you have helped us to fill in the huge gap.
 :) :) :) :)

Any chance of a follow-up on Lachlan Townsley? But only when you can spare the time.

Is that the Lachlan born c 1872 to Robert and Catherine or a different one?  I've trawled back and that's the only one I can see

There is no trace of him on the 1891/1901

Dear Carole,

Forgive the slow reply, our whole internet slows down and grinds to a halt at month-end. Also, February is the end of our tax year so even worse than usual!

Yes, that is the Lachlan Townsley, brother of our Great Grand-father Robert, both sons of Robert and Catherine and both born in Kilberry.  He must have died young.

I now have a website to get Birth/Death/Marriage certificates so with all your information will see what I can get from there.

We had the "cousins lunch" on Saturday and drank a toast to your health! They are all very excited about your findings and thank you most sincerely! There were just so many "stories" and now we can sort the wheat from the chaff.

See on Sky News that it is still very cold in Scotland, do hope it won't be long before Spring reaches you.  Here of course our Autumn is just beginning, best time of year.

Many thanks again. :) :D :) :D :) :D

Kind regards,

Linda Engelbrecht
