I did that for a while last night,and ended up in Aldenham itself.

I've forgotten the Elstree geography,it's been 40 years since I moved away from round there!

Trouble is it is cut into 4, at the cross roads.

In 1851 it is run by Leopold I Bernays

Leopold is in Great Stanmore in 1861 with pupils . . . . . But that is St john's Church

however, Carol's damn place  . . . .  (?)

We nearly married at St John's Church,but the vicar realised that he didn't recognise either of us and turned us away!

There are lots of referecnes to Bernays to this day in Stanmore,not least the village hall,and a Bernays Close.
