OK thinking outside the box here there is only one NEIL McLeod marriage registered on the OPRs for Inverness between 1836 and 1847 that was to a Mary and in Portree March 1847.  There are 9 NIEL McLeod marriages during the same period so it looks likely spelling is holding you back.

I'll carry on checking these
Ireland, Co Antrim: Kerr; Hollinger; Forsythe; Moore
Ireland, Co Louth: Carson; Leslie
Ireland, Co Kerry: Ferris
Scotland, Perthshire/Glasgow:  Stewart
England, Devon/Cornwall: Ferris, Gasser/Jasser/Jesser, Norman

Hi Fifer,

I did use surname soundex. I now have 4 birth certs. 2 give yr of marriage 1845 & 1847 others no date at all. The other 2 births were not where stated on census as Duirinish but BRACADALE.

I still can't find Roderick Gordon MacLeod whether Duirinish, Bracadale or anywhere for that matter.

Still can't find Neil's death (hubby of Christina MacLean) - Methuselah 2nd  ???

There are 2 Niel Mcleod marriages on 17 January 1839 @ Bracadale both females surnames start Mc* (but not McLean) one has the forename Christian.  Would this not tie in with Monica's 1841 finding?

I did use surname soundex.

Surname soundex would not correct a forename spelling.

Thanks Fifer,

You know I think I did use the "beginning with" for forname if I remember correctly but will go back to SP & check? I'm so tired with this lot my brain is overworked  ::)

Yes I have eliminated him. His parents are Torquill & Mary Fraser.

I found someone with a tree on Anc*stry who have a couple Neil & Christina but he has different parents for her so I'm awaiting a reply to see what comes of it because I'm still certain there are 2 couples with same names?
