Beale Veare - where is this?
« on: Tuesday 21 January 14 00:01 GMT (UK) »
On IOM iMuseum, one of the registered deeds for Godfrey TATE (died 1851) has the following text:
Assignment:Godfrey TATE by William QUIGGIN, Trustee to Sophia TATE,  Joseph TRAYLER and Thomas KELLY. Beale Veare in parishes of Arbory and Rushen

In Manxnotebook, Bealevear is defined as "entrance of the road"

What and where is/are the Beale Veare referred to in registered deed?

try bealevayre marked on largescale public footpaths map - grid ref SC225708

shown on Woods Atlas map of Rushen but incorrectly as Bealerear on map - plots 356 etc near Ballakillpatrick + Cronkeydooney on border with Arbory
any thing with a Manx Connection

Found it!
Can't get onto Woods Atlas or footpath maps but found Ballakillpatrick and Cronkeydooney on another map.
In the 1841 census enumeration district 5 Bealvear appears just before Cronkedooney, in 1851 census enumeration district 1 it is recorded as  Bealevarayr and Bealvayr

Thank you

my MNB (www.manxnotebook.com/cd_rom.htm) has all the maps from Woods atlas + text for about 60% of parishes  + also various sheets of 1868 O/S 1:2500 plans inc the one showing Bealevayr
any thing with a Manx Connection
