Donnington on Bain marriage
« on: Thursday 24 February 11 07:33 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find the marriage of William & Elizabeth Dawson. They were from Donnington on Bain and raised a family there. Elizabeth was born c.1795 and the first born was in 1817. I've checked the IGI and nothing was found. Can anyone help please?

I've spent some time for looking for the marriage, without success :(

I see that the 1851 census gives Elizabeth's age as 58 and her birthplace as Ludborough.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thanks very much Geoff for your efforts. I think I may need to make a visit to the Lincolnshire Archives. The LFHS have published marriage records there and also Phillimores Marriage Index that I can look at.
Regards, Peter

Hello! I am researching this William Dawson & Elizabeth Ingamells Dawson. I believe my 3rd great grandmother (Elizabeth Ada Dawson b. 1824, Donnington-on-Bain) was their daughter, but I can't find any records to document this.  Do you have any records of my Elizabeth b. 1824?
Thank you,
Darci

Hi DarciDee.  The Dawson nee Ingamells family comes into my research as I concentrate on the Ingamells name.  I take it that you can follow Elizabeth Ada forwards - who did she marry? What information was on her marriage certificate re her father, and who were the witnesses?  If you can let me know, I can see where I might be able to help.
Ingamells - anywhere and everywhere
Capes - Holbeach, Lincs and Castleacre, Norfolk
Carling - Manchester
Parkinson - Wainfleet, Thorpe St Peter, Legsby (Lincs)
Waller - Donington on Bain, Lincs
Davey/Davey - Stickford, Lincs
West - Asterby , Lincs c 1800 +/-20yrs
Gaunt/Gant - Baumber, Lincs
Ellingworth - Rutland
Dexter - Rutland
Clark/e - Holbeach, Lincs
Rodgers/Rogers - Holbeach, Lincs
Freshney - Moulton, Lincs
Ling - Saleby and Whaplode, Lincs

Many many thanks!! The father is William Dawson, carpenter. Witnesses: Jane Dawson and J. Gilliat. Groom is John Lewis. The ages of bride and groom Elizabeth and John do not match my family records (birth years and age ranges...family records show that she was 9 years younger but on the marriage certificate, they are only 3 years apart)...but maybe they didn't tell the truth regarding their ages. Date of marriage certificate is April 1844 and my family records show the birthdate of the first child as July 1844. I doubt that she was 6 months pregnant, but could have been or birth year for eldest son is wrong...lots of info to clarify!!! Thank you again!!!!

The first child (Levi) was bap in 1844 - some time between May and December - the vicar forgot to put the date in the register!  ::)

Top one on the right here - http://tinyurl.com/nynwcxf

Perhaps you'll find entries for later children as the register goes up to 1887. :)
