CONRY in Southwark, Surrey
« on: Saturday 22 October 11 15:27 BST (UK) »
Hello;

  Would anyone tie into this family?  William CONRY b Ireland abt 1780 a leather draper, lived in the St George the Martyr area of Southwark with spouse Hanna/Anna Maria.  Various children were born in this area, 1805 to 1820, and two sons James and Henry were bapt St Leonard Shoreditch 1837.
  I am trying to make sense of my Conry relation Eleanor, b 1806 Southwark, Surrey who lived nearby. She is not in any of the baptisms, so presently does not relate. Can't find her bapt in any other parishes.
  Any other ideas?

Noticed you had no replies, so decided to give it a try and have found the following

on Ancestry there is a public tree showing:

William Conry 1780 - 16/11/1846 married to Helen Maria ?  1871 - 1844

William Conry's parents:  William snr. & Eleanor (she is shown as dying c.1840)

So maybe Eleanor is your Williams mother?

The death in 1840 would be ok if she had been born c.1806.

FreeBMD death reference:  Eleanor Conry  Dec.1840  St. George Southwark  4  367

And there is a tree on Genes Reunited with Eleanor Conry on, same age & place of birth.

Fleming (Bristol) Fowler/Brain (Battersea/Bristol)    Simpson (Fulham/Clapham)  Harrison (W.London, Fulham, Clapham)  Earl & Butler  (Dublin,New Ross: Ireland)  Humphrey (All over mainly London) Hill (Reigate, Bletchingly, Redhill: Surrey)
Sell (Herts/Essex/W. London)

Hi there;
  I had forgotten that I wrote that message.  Thank you for your response.  The GR tree is most likely my Eleanor 1806-1869, but I will check out the other tree you mentioned.  Since I wrote that, I have gained Eleanor's father's name, as I was fortunate to have correspondence that mentioned a sister.  Sister Hester married in 1840 and Eleanor was one of the witnesses. Father was Charles Conry and a Leather Dresser much like the William I had mentioned.  However, that was quite a Bermondsey area occupation I understand. I have found a Charles Connery and Esther Connery in the  St Magdalene Bermondsey workhouse in the 1841 census and their burials shortly after that time. So will have to do some further checking.
Again thank you for your response, as Eleanor Conry dying in 1840 may tie in as well.

Hello;
  Would anyone out there tie in to some other Conrys who were leather dressers in the Bermondsey area from 1800 to mid 1800s?  I have found that most likely my Eleanor Conry signed as a marriage witness with her mark for Owen Conry and Flora Martin, St George the Martyr Southwark, 1825.  Owen signed as a witness to Mary Conry and John Conner's marriage in 1833 St George the Martyr?   I haven't been able to find baptisms for Owen or Mary....somewhat like my Eleanor and her sister Hester.  There seems to be an older Owen Conry who was a ?Tanner ?Skinner.  His son Charles Conry was buried in Bermondsey in 1798.  Any thoughts on these people?
