COMPLETED - 1861 Census Agnes Kennedy
« on: Monday 25 October 10 13:43 BST (UK) »
In The 1901 UK Census I have a Agnes Bennett Living with Wm (William) Bennett
Agnes age is noted as 47 (birth abt 1854 birthplace Scotland))

There is also a Mother in law in the same household in the 1901 UK Census noted as Agnes Kennedy Age 71 birthplace Scotland.

Agnes Bennett (Kennedy) the younger is noted in the 1891 UK census as aged 40 (birth about 1851) born in Rothesay, Scotland.

In the 1881 UK Census Agnes Bennett (Kennedy) is noted as aged 28 (birth abt 1853 in Scotland)

When I try to look up FreeCEN I find a Agnes Kennedy:

Piece: SCT1861/552 Place: Cumbray -Bute Enumeration District: 1
Civil Parish: Cumbray Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: Cumbray
Folio: 0 Page: 5 Schedule: 34
Address: 14 Clyde Street
6 Years old

But with Parents: Thomas and Cathrine (no Agnes)

Can anyone help me find the missing threads?

Thanks for your help.

Hi racines

From the 1881 English census entry that you mention, two brothers for Agnes show in the Bennett household:
Donald, 16 and Samuel, 12, both born in Liverpool, Lancashire.

This looks a possible 1871 census entry for the Kennedy family in Liverpool:

Donald Kennedy 40, ship's carpenter.
Agnes Kennedy 35
William Kennedy 11
Donald Kennedy 6
Margaret Kennedy 3
Samuel Kennedy 1

RG10; Piece: 3815; Folio: 129; Page: 36

Parents show as born in Scotland, unusually, children are only showing as born in England, no specific county.

Hmmm that is a possible match, thank you for the help.

The only thing is the change in age of the Mother Agnes.... what do you think?

Ages can go up and down on the censuses can't they. Her age is not too far out from what shows in 1871. Would be good to find the family with mother Agnes in other census years to be able to compare birth years. I struggled to find them in 1861 which is important to try and find young Agnes with this family.
