As groom has said, there were 2 marriages for Thomas Liddle in the same quarter - one marrying Jane Davison and the other marrying Jane Robinson. Do you have any other info that might tell you which Jane was which - and use census info to help confirm - occ/place of birth/age/ etc.

Thanks to everyone!

I just can't 'confirm' that I want to proceed - nothing happens! However, I've got my answer in the end!

Sunderland have altered their website and you cannot now access the original indexes as before.
http://www.sunderland.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1399

In what way have they changed it? I just did a marriage search and was able to find the name of the spouse as before  :-\

Can you give me the link you used please.

The only thing that concerns me is, as Gadget pointed out, there were two Thomas Liddles marrying Janes at the same time and in the same place, so how do you know you have the right one? Or are you following Jane Robinson and wanted to know if she married Thomas?

Hi Groom

I see that Sue was mentioning Thomas son of William Liddle yesterday  :-\

Haven't seen her mention  Jane Robinson in Co Durham before.

Hi,

The 'other' Thomas Liddle's marriage can be found on familysearch.
He was born in 1831 (mine was born in 1850), and his father was a Joseph Liddle - mine was a William Liddle.

Hope this has cleared up all the confusion - my head is spinning now!!!

Once again - thanks everyone, much appreciated

Sue

You have to confirm that you want to proceed.
On the next page confirm that the events occurred in Sunderland
Then click 'Next'
On the next page click 'add certificate'
On the next page do the search.
When you get the search results click on the + beside each one and you get the name of the spouse

Thanks, the format seems to have changed since I last used the site.
