Thomas Henry WYCHERLEY - help!
« on: Monday 01 December 14 14:59 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out what happened to my great grandfather, Thomas Henry Wycherley after 1922.

He was born in Wolverhampton in 1873, married in 1893 and again in 1908. He was convicted of bigamy in 1909, sentenced to 12 mos. hard labour. He married again in 1915, and again to my great grandmother Mabel HADDEN in 1917. In 1922 he was convicted again of bigamy. I have a few news articles (Hull Daily Mail and Great Western Gazette) from 1922 outlining the court case, and a prisoner calendar saying he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 9 mos. hard labour at the Old Bailey courts.

I cannot find a single record of his existence after this. Can anyone help give me an idea of where he would've served his sentence etc.? A news artice from his 1909 conviction confirms he was in the army as of 1904, and we always thought he was a career army man. I've contacted the National Archives and they have no military records.

He also used the names Harley Mackenery and Thomas Harley Pritchard Mackenery.

Thanks for any help!

Ok well im not sure that'd be him, unless he married yet again after 1922's bigamy charge. As far as I know, my great grandmother Mabel Hadden was his last wife, but who knows with this guy

Marriage
Oct/Nov/Dec 1932
Camberwell
ref 1d 1429
Thomas H Mackenney / Mary J Broderick

And, as avm228 has posted, for the one dying in 1959, there were Letters of Admin naming widow Edith Rose.

Lots of info under the names you give, but they may not all relate to the same individual!

Oh man. I don't even know where to start.

His 2nd or 3rd marriage was also in Camberwell, and my family on that side was between Fulham and Brighton. From what I understand Uckfield is quite nearby that area or Brighton/Portsmouth

And with his creative use of names and taste for bigamy... It's plausible

Anyone have an idea of where he would've been sentenced to back in 1922?
