Can you tell us where you found this information?

I can't find a birth on ManxBMD.com, or any mention on www.imuseum.im?

Did you find him on a census? If so, which one?

Thank you for replying. The information we have is from his death cert.. It says he was born on the Isle of Man around 1871, his father was John Robinson a doctor of medicine and his mother was Anne Lyons. So far that is all we know.

There   were no compulsory   registrations  of   BIRTHS  in  the   IOM   until  1878   although   there

were   some   voluntary  ones.   Baptism    has   to be   assumed  to have   taken place    soon

after   birth   & used   as  estimated    DOB.   Where   was   this death recorded?

OK, so when did he emigrate to Australia?
With his family? with a wife? Or alone?

Thank you both for the reply's. We have 1854 as the year he came to Australia and that he was 44. Also have that he married in Australia so we presume he came alone. No sibling's are known at this stage. Also have that he arrived on the ship "Parsee"

Oh no, I just reread my message and his year of birth should be 1817 , 1871 is his year of death. I am so sorry to have wasted your time.

Also just reread my last message and his age on arrival in Australia would have been 37. I have just been copying what was sent to me without thinking about it. Again sorry!
