Charles and Julia's shop was in Knightstown but I do not think they came from there. Charles originally worked at Glanleam. Mary is listed in Portmagee in the 1911 census. I believe Charles' son, Patrick died quite young. It needs further investigation, he may have died in the 1st World War as in 1911, he was in the reserves of the Irish Guards.

Could you tell me where Julia's family originated? Her father, Michael is listed as a farmer on her marriage certificate. Do you know where was the farm?

Thanks for the info. Not quite what I was expecting. The area is some distance from Valentia isn't it? I will investigate if the Murphys came from the same area.

Good morning, I am also looking for information regarding my great grandfather John Keane from Portmagee. He married a Casey and had I believe 4 daughters one of them Ellen Keane who was my grandmother who emigrated to Canada after the 2nd world war. We are visiting the village this summer and any information about possible living relatives still in the área would be great. Thank you.

Did you try the Irish 1911 Census - this seems to be the only John Keane family in Portmagee in 1911.
May be a possibility -Do you have birth record for Ellen?

Ellen was born in 1925, she had a sister named Mary and another one named nora I believe who still lived in Portmagee until July 2007 when she passed away. I saw the census of 1911 but I do not believe it was him since he only had daughters and his wife passed away when the girls were Young. Her last name was Casey. I do know that in the 80 he was still alive and lived in a pink house beside the bridge to valentía island.
