Robert Jones of Corwen
« on: Saturday 25 May 13 19:19 BST (UK) »
I seek information on the baptism of one Robert Jones who proports to have been born at Corwen North Wales in the year of 1801. A bonus would be his parents mrge.

He travelled south by the mid 19th, mrd Maria Dawkins of Lamphey and set up an Ironmongers here in the town of Pembroke.

His is one of the very few and last of the surviving headstones of Pembroke St Mary and was buried in the churchyard on 21st Sept 1863.

Tks in advance.

Hello

I've checked my Corwen records and there's nothing very promising.  There is a baptism  in Glyndyfrdwy in 1803, which might be a possible. Do you have more details on his marriage.

Later tonight, I'll also look at my non-conformist baptisms for him  :)

Corwen and Glyndyfrdwy are Merionethshire.

Hello

Me again!   If he married Maria  in Tenby, 1858. He is  down as aged 58, widower. Father is recorded as John Jones, farmer.  Do you have any info on his earlier marriage?

Will investigate further.

Those of us with Jones ancestors do have our problems   ::) :-X

Just looked at my non-conformist records and there's nothing there that fits with the info. As you  are probably aware, the n-c records are limited. With a father named John Jones, farmer, it's difficult to pin him down. What do you have of him in 1851?

Robert Jones had mrd Maria Dawkins of Lamphey in the Pembroke Reg district of 1858. Since Tenby was at this time part of Pembroke Borough, the mrge quite lightly took place there and I can check that out at the R.O.
All relevant census acquired. 18161 Robert was an Ironmonger on Main Street, I have no connection to the family but am voluntarily recording and researching the last of the headstones and memorial of St Mary and St Michael (Monkton is completed) so that the church's (not me) may benefit in the future.
At least you have given me John the lightly father of Robert so can leave it there.

Mni Tks for your assistance.
