There is suggestion of a marriage of  a John William Timmins to an Amy Ann Clarke being a civil Marriage at Wolstanton Stoke on Trent WRO/38/008 in 1894 according to the Staffordshire BMD

as a potential first marriage ????

I looked at the Clark one she never had a child - I think its ROBERTS the child's mothers maiden.

Hello,

there is a Benjamin Priest born 1900 living in Dudley in 1901 with parents John and Sara Jane plus other children.

You could look at 1911 index here: http://www.1911census.co.uk/ for him and Violet. If you find them, you can download the census details for a fee.

best wishes
heywood

If there are too many options, it's a marriage certificate then  :-\

Thank you Haywood if it were for me that would be my next step. As it is for a friend I can't decide for her but will put the option to her x

It is difficult isn't it - but rather she gets the right information than blame you for the wrong one  ;)

Thats very true. I'm a long way from Dudley at the moment so can't get into the RO for her either - strange thing is I have 2 out of 3 of these surnames on my Dad's side so I was hoping I might be able to connect myself x
