Warwick / Warrick family
« on: Thursday 15 July 10 08:59 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the Warwick / Warrick family who lived in Swansea. I have tracked them from 1861 to 1891 on the census, but the whole family seems to have dissappeared after that.

In 1881 and 1891 the family were residing 25 Gibbett Hill Road, Swansea. The family was Alfred, born about 1832 in Hertfordshire who married Hannah Edwards, born about 1830 at Lampeter. They had five children, Elizabeth, William, John, Eleanor and Sarah.

Does anyone have any connection to this family ?

wonder if Hannah's death was registered under Ann?

Ann Warwick 77 march qtr 1898 Swansea vol 11a pg 309

There's no Ann of a similar age on the 1891 census in Swansea

Hi Osprey

Thank you for getting back to me.

I have to agree with you about Hannah being Ann, she would be about the right age and she is living in the right area. I could not find her or Alfred on any 1901 census.

I have always seen Alfred recorded as Alfred, that is not to say he was not born William Alfred. He was baptised in 1832. This could well be Alfred.

I have had a look at John on the 1901, as a dock labourer and I believe he married Elizabeth Ann Healy in 1894 with the birth of daughter Susannah a few years later.

I agree with you about Sarah and her two possibles as a husband and also the deaths of William and Elizabeth. They are the right ages living in the right area.

Thank you for your help in opening up further avenues of investigation.

Regards

Martin

I thought I saw him as William Alfred somewhere along the way, but now I'm not so sure. Hope I haven't given you duff info.

Hi Martin I am related to the Warrick family you speak of.  My line comes from Thomas (Son of Stephen) who was born in Wales in 1870.  Thomas married Martha Ann Carey (daughter of George)  I have their wedding certificate.  Would love to hear from you and Tammy who lives in my neck of the woods Australia.  Regards Pamela

Hi Pamela

I have only just seen your enquiry, I do not recall a notification in my inbox informing of your reply. Sorry about this delay in replying.

I would be grateful of any information that you can supply. To date I have taken the Warwick / Warrick line back to 1540. Stephen and his brother Alfred both left Furneux Pelham in Hertfordshire and moved to Wales. They both appear on the 1861 census of Wales, that is the first time they are recorded as being in Wales. To date I have Thomas and Martha with eight children and to date I have three of those eight children getting married.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Hi Martin

I am new to RootsChat.  I am a Warwick by birth.  My Warwicks/Warricks from me going back were mainly in London. My Father was Thomas Warwick b. 1928.  My grandfather George Warwick b.1896 at Mile End, London, he was a fish porter at Billingsgate.  His father was also George who was 28 on the 1901 census also a fish porter (I suspect at Billingsgate) and married Martha Cuthbert.  George's father was Thomas Henry b approx 1843 and I think Thomas's father was Thomas Blencoe Warwick (Warrick) b. 1811 in Northamptonshire (Marston St Lawrence) who married Elizabeth b. approx 1812 in Middlesex.  Thomas and Elizabeth ran a pub called the Bell Tavern in Church Row Aldgate behind St Botolphs.  My link from Thomas junior to Thomas Blencoe Warrick is a little weak.  Do you have any information which might help me confirm this?  Anything would help.  Many thanks in advance.    Viv
