John Hawkesworth BEALE d 1860 Ramsgate
« on: Tuesday 10 June 14 10:47 BST (UK) »
I came across this death whilst looking for information about my HAWKESWORTH family

Deaths Dec 1860  Beale  John Hawkesworth     Thanet    2a   381

FamilySearch gives his burial as 9 Dec in Ramsgate.

FreeBMD has a possible corresponding birth in the Sept qtr of 1860 in Southwark.

I know it's a bit of a long shot but does anyone know anything about John and his family please?

Brief Background Outline
My gt gt uncle, John Holman JOYCE (b1839) married Caroline Margaret BEALE (b1838) in London in 1864.  Caroline is given as BEALE or HAWKESWORTH in FamilySearch.  She married John BEALE
Sept qtr 1862 in London but John died in the Dec qtr of that year.

Thank you :)

I don't have a sub for FindMyPast either.

Yes, that would be Caroline.  Thank you again and for finding her in 1851 as well :)

You're right about Borough.  The other place is Worplesdon <G>

Thank you :)  Where did you find that information?  It sounds like a burial book, as opposed to the burial register itself.

I was hoping his father might have been mentioned.

Might the part after "south wall" mean bay or section 4 of the New Burial Ground?

I got the info from FindMyPast, as for the Hawkesworth/Beale on the marriage record, as she was a widow it may have had brides name Beale formally Hawkesworth, freebmd shows her marrying as Hawkesworth 1st time and Beale as the second time.

That must be something new to FindMyPast.  I don't remember seeing anything like that on there when I had a sub.  Useful though.

What threw me was FreeBMD only showed the one surname, not both which is how widows can appear.  It was FamilySearch which gave me the hint Caroline was a widow.  I didn't expect her to be wdowed quite so fast though!

It was the HAWKSWORTH/BEALE combination that made me wonder whether the 1860 infant was something to do with Caroline and her first husband in some way, given it was two years before they married.  Maybe two brothers marrying two sisters.
