Hello
This further info kindly given to me by Mamakaz might help someone build up more of a picture to help me please, please, please...........?
UK Incoming Passenger Lists 1878 - 1960:
Richard Aitken
b abt 1874, age 37 accompanied by Robert Aitken, age 1 - 12 years.
Port of Departure:
Quebec, Canada
Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England
Empress of Ireland
Canadian Pacific Line
If this is 'my' Richard travelling from Canada to UK, at age 37, this voyage would have been +/- 1911?
~~~~~~~~-------------------------------
Don't know from which passenger lists:
Also, Richard Aitken, trip Glasgow - New York, 1891, no further details, don't know if same Richard Aitken?
he would have been age 17 years, if it is 'my' Richard? A year after he was a Bankers Clerk in Scotland.
~~~~~~~~-------------------------------
Also, Mr John Aitken, 2nd Class Passenger, Thurs 12 July, 1900
SS Furnessia
Glasgow - New York
No further details, and don't know if this John Aitken, is connected to John Aitken of possibly 1851 Census of Scotland, showing a John Aitken (Lodger) at Entryhead, Scotsdon, Newlands, Scotland?
~~~~~~~~-----------------------------
Richard Aitken
appears in 1891 Census of Scotland, age 16, Bankers Clerk, but not in Census of 1901 with rest of family, which suggests he left the UK 1892 - 1900?
Some living relatives in South Africa, seem to think that Richard left Scotland, for South Africa, but as I know of American cousins, could he have gone to USA or Canada instead?
Cheers
