Hi Suz,

Thanks. I should have said her forename may be Margaret as I actually thought there was an error/mishearing re the age gap. I actually wondered if this was a 2nd marriage.

I am trying to help someone out by using sites I'm accustomed with & relying on a family connection to read my post as my geography for Wales is minus zero!!!!! I can manage English placenames with rough ideas of whereabouts but unfortunately I have never had any dealings with Welsh in my own tree to date to get accustomed with the areas.

You are correct with Breconshire as I looked it up "Merthyr Tydfil (Mid Glamorgan; Breconshire; Brecknockshire), Wales, UK & she was listed as born Glamorgan.

So seems age is correct and facts correct, just surname to get and to be honest "Griffiths" not the best of names to be starting with  ;D

Regards,

A. M.

It looks like John was married previously (going by census) but Luke it seems is Margaret (&John)'s son.
Don't know where margaret was born as Glamorgan & and Breconshire are 2 different counties -although very close.

There are several possibilities for John/Margaret marriages - to be certain which is the correct one it would be best to purchase one of the children's birth certs or the marriage cert (which maybe would be best as it should give father's name and occupation

Thanks Welsh Lady,

I will let my friend know and he will be able to get John's death cert. now and name of his father hopefully too.

I have since found out that Margaret's maiden name was Griffiths too by the look of things.
