  I'm still new to the family history thing so when I hit something like this, I have no idea what's going on or how to identify whether the records I'm looking at are even pointing to the right person!

Any help would be great.

Hi,

I have a Mary Snadon (married to a John Gillespie) probably descended from a William Snadon and Rachel Hunter.

Mary and John were parents of Robert Gillespie b March 13, 1810 at Tillicoutry.

Robert married Janet Hogg November 20 at Tillicoutry

Sounds about right. Did Robert have a mother called Agnes Gillespie born in Tillicoultry born about 1791.?
