William BUGG
« on: Wednesday 17 January 07 10:09 GMT (UK) »
Hello All,
Looking for any information on William Bugg born approx 1781 Hawstead.  married Ann ?? also born approx 1781 Hawstead.
The only children I know about are:-
John b 1815 Hawstead
James b 1823 Hawstead

On the 1841 census there is a Maria b 1821 which I thought was another child but now I am not so sure and wonder whether she could be John's wife Maria who in the 1861 census has the same birth year.  From her age in the 1851 census she must have had her son when she was 12 so assume that that birth date is wrong!!!
Would love to be able to go back another generation so any help would be much appreciated.

IGI lists Mary Anne BUGG, daughter of William and Anne, christened 31 May 1818, Hawstead.  As adults' ages were rounded down on the 1841 census, this could be Maria.

All Saints at Hawstead is a lovely church - have a look on

I used to drive through the village, and past those Almshouses every morning taking my children to school in Bury St Edmunds a few years ago  :)

If you have any other lost Buggs, you could try Norfolk. I keep stumbling across the name there.
