Sporting gentleman for dating, please
« on: Tuesday 23 September 14 15:59 BST (UK) »
I just love this photo of the man with his dog lying at his feet!

The cardstock is the same as this one, except it's a much less lurid colour http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=697679.msg5409459#msg5409459 which was dated mid-late 1870's

Is it a similar date, please?

Some photographers had their own personalised cardstock as opposed to commercially produced ones & therefore used them over many years.
It could be late 1870's but I think more likely to be 1880's.
As he's advertising photo's of deceased friends I'm beginning to wonder about the dog !

I asked OH what the boomstick might be and here's what he had to say:
A nondescript cap lock muzzle loader. I don't see any barrel bands or other mounting hardware, so it could be a prop.

Cheers,
