Hello,

I don't know why no one has answered you yet cos its such an easy question.  Newcastle City Library just off Northumberland Street has a large family history section on the 6th floor.  They have reels containing copies of Evening Chronicle newspapers from mid to late 1800's right through to 2009. Every paper had a page of birth, marriage and death notices in.

By coincidence, i was looking at the very reel you would need to look at just a few days ago for a death from my family.....so its definitely available. They are free to look up and you can print your findings off for 10 or 20 pence a sheet i think.

Are you local and can you get there yourself???

If not, i might be there on Thursday this week, so i could have a look for you.  Let me know if you want me to.  I have had loads of help off people on here in the past, so its always a pleasure to return the favours if possible.

John.

 John,

If the search was so easy, and you were on the " very reel", why didn't you find the death notice Sue was seeking ?

Was it because with Eliza dying sometime in the Sept Quarter ( i.e. 31st July - 30 Sept) in 1913 you would have had to look through up to 78 Evening Chronicle editions ?

Er excuse me? If you bothered to read what i said to sue properly, i told her that i was in the library LAST week and on that occasion i happened to be looking on the same reel as sue needs to look at. As i didnt see sues post until last night and i dont have a time machine to hand then i cant see how i could have looked for her at the time. I also said that i will be more than happy to look for her tomorrow. May i suggest you get off your high horse and apologise to me for your disgraceful rudeness.

 John,

I did bother to read your first post properly.

But it was not until your second post,  that you explained that you has not seen Sue's post ( dated 5th March) until last night (21st March)

I disagree that my post to you amounted to " discraceful rudeness", but I do apologise to you if my words upset you for whatever reason.

I also disagree that I am on my " high horse".

Feel free to report what you call my rudeness to the Moderator ( sillgen) of this message board.

Hello,

I went to the library today and looked through all of the July, August and September chronicles for you, but im afraid i didnt find anything at all about your Eliza Allen.

The closest i got was an Elizabeth Allan, but she was 83 and she was in the July 9th edition.

Sorry about that, but not everyone ended up in the chronicle.

John
