Thanks Tara
Super good I certainly am not!! Found a few errors in my research this week that really annoyed me
I misread a Patrick as John and went off a totally wrong trail!!!!

Basically like all of us I have hit the proverbial "have the father but who was her mother?" wall.
I have traced all the children forward with moderate success

It is Anne and going back I am not letting go of!

I know that James was thae name Anne REILLY/RILEY/RIELY 's father but I have no mother
When she married her address was Beggar's Bush Church record of marriage

The only other hint I have about her family is a reference to a next of kin for her son in 1914 as his aunt "Mrs. LEAHY of Kimmage";
as Anne's husband, Benjamin JOHNS, was from Cornwall originally and I can only assume that Mrs LEAHY was originally a REILLY rather than a JOHNS but I cannot find any records to shed any light on this.
I cannot even find her on the 1911 census anywhere; looked at all the Leahy/Lahey's and women between about 50 and 100 with no success. Had hoped she may lead me to their parents.

So hoping for a magic break through! that moment we all dream of when the 7th cousin appears having completed your lineage back to day dot and all the work's done ;D ;D ;D

long shot - Mrs Leahy might be in England in 1911? ... have married in England?  ..... but how to find her!!

(on the 7th cousin topic - about 2 years ago three 4th cousins of OH (1st/2nd cousins of each other) crawled out of the woodwork in a space of three weeks, and gave us a 95%ish certainty of a particular link - so it can happen!

Poor Mrs Leahy could have been anywhere!
This Margaret Leahy is the closest to the area and approx age

Thanks for the encouragement maybe those distant cousins will some day appear ;)

Hi 'myluck'

I'm sure this has been mistranscribed and is a possibility

Hiya,

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not

But I checked to see if I could see the surname Johns in Kimmage and got two hits with the surname Leigh too!

Do you think I'm on the right track or am I WAY off !

I MUST be right..

Your Anne had a son called Richard Johns ...am I right ?

and this is them in 1901

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Rathmines___Rathgar_West/Mountainview_Avenue/70034/

Given the rarity of the surname he must be the same Richard Johns as a godfather on one f the baptisms that I sent you........

What do you think ?

You're an angel - I must be blind!!
Yes you have the JOHNS spot on in 1901
I never looked at Leigh as an option - now if I can find Eliza's marriage I may be in luck
Thanks - I know what I'm doing tonight
