Find this Place Name please
« on: Sunday 17 April 11 21:41 BST (UK) »
Hello All
I have a marriage cert that gives an address of GAILY KNOCKROUGHY
does anyone know where this may have been please.

Area - DUBLIN (COI) , Parish/Church/Congregation - ST. GEORGE
Address = GAILY KNOCKROUGHY on 27 June 1864
THE GROOM LIVED ON PHIBSBOROUGH DUBLIN AND THE BRIDE LIVED IN BAGGOT STREET.
THEIR FATHERS WERE FARMERS AND I THINK THIS ADDRESS MAY HAVE BEEN WHERE THE FARMS WERE
FITZGERALD and PURDUE are the names.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank You

Hi lord-ed,

I have this same marriage certificate - part of my family history.  I believe "Knockroughy" could be Knockrough in Limerick.  Any further information on this would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Marriage cert. give address Gaily Knockroughy
Does anyone know where it is please?

Area - Dublin(COI) , Parish/Church/Congregation - St George
Address given Gaily Knockroughy  on 27 June 1864
Groom lived Phibsborough Dublin
Bride lived Baggot Street
Their fathers were Farmers  - I think this address maybe the Farms
FITZGERALD and PURDUE are the names

Can't see anything by that name on Irish Place names - take a look at the link
http://www.irish-place-names.com/

What are their father's names?

Co. Limerick civil parishes list
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/irl/LIM/Limerickcppage.html

Don’t know if there's any connection to your Fitzgerald's

Tithe Applotments 1833 mentions a Fitzgerald
Garrett & widow   Knockrough
http://www.rootschat.com/links/018lo/

Townland Knockrough parish Knockrainy county Limerick
click on surname Fitzgerald
http://www.rootschat.com/links/018ln/

Have you checked the 1861 census for Ireland to see what address is given for either family?

ADDED

ok have the father's name as f/s search gives some detail of the marriage
Thomas FITZGERALD father Francis to Eliza PURDUE father Thomas
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGZ3-TQ4

So perhaps the above Garrett Fitzgerald has no connection to your Fitzgerald family
