Sterne family Eversden, Hauxton, Haslingfield. Help,please.

Elizabeth Sterne (Stern Stearne Starn Steam) stated she was born in Hauxton in 1825, father James William Stearne mother Mary ?, according to the passenger list. She married John Worling in Little Eversden in 1846 and sailed to Sydney on the Kate in 1855 with her family and sister Sarah Ann Sterne. I’ve been unable to find her christening record in Hauxton, Harston, Great and Little Eversden or Haslingfield. I assumed she may have been older than she stated and searched familysearch from 1820 onwards. No luck! Can anyone suggest where someone born in Hauxton might be christened, please?

On FreeREG there is an Elizabeth Stearne baptised 12/6/1825 at Grantchester, Cambridgeshire-not sure how near that is! Father William, which is James's second name, so a possible, mother is Elizabeth.

Hi,

I have looked through various nearby parish records and the only Elizabeth Sterne (Stearne) I have been able to find born to a James and Mary was in Trumpington - not too far away from Hauxton.

The downside is that she was born in 1810, but she did have a sister Sarah b. 1797 and a brother Bartholomew b. 1806.

Do you have any other info?

 On the Family search site there is an Eliza Sterne who was christened in 1829 in Harston, Cambridgeshire, father William Sterne mother Mary Holder.

Forget the above as I have found a christening for a Sarah Stearn 14th Nov 1829, INDEPENDENT,GREAT EVERSDEN,CAMBRIDGE,ENGLAND Father James Stearn, mother Mary.

Elizabeth and John Worling on the 1851 census are living in Haslingfield with a 2yr old child named Joseph Wallis. This whilst her baptism is still being rather elusive this may be a clue.
