Birth of Henry Burden. Aaaggghhh!
« on: Saturday 05 April 14 16:32 BST (UK) »
These Burdens are driving me crazy.  In case you want to catch up, (or can be bothered to) here are my previous three  threads.

So!  I sent for William's son Henry's birth certificate to confirm his wife Annie's maiden name.  (I have seen a copy of Henry's Indian marriage certificate which states his father as William)
His birth certificate came this morning!  Henry Arthur John Burden born 15/12/1893, 17 Waverley Road (Paddington) Son of Henry Burden (Boot Finisher) and Elizabeth Burden formally Dixon!  Aaaggghhhh!!!

So, I checked Henry & Elizabeth's marriage - They married in 1893.  Where were they in 1901? - nowhere!  I checked the death entries and it looks as though Henry snr died in 1901 (registered Kensington) before the census.  So where did young Henry (Harry)  and his mother go?
As seen in my previous threads, In 1901 Harry son of William can be found in Paddington - correct age and same age as the certificate I just received.  William was a bootmaker.....  the plot thickens.

Checking back, William had a brother Henry.  They can be found together with parents John & Johanna in 1881 RG11/158/43/17.  Henry is then found in 1891 lodging with his sister(?) RG12/268/145/31.  William & Henry had the same profession.  Did William take on his brother's children when Henry died?

If this happened, then young Harry would have known William as his father - but I will have been barking up the wrong tree with regard to his parents - although his grandparents will remains the same.   PLEASE HELP!!
I'm not young enough to know everything.

Did Henry & Elizabeth baptise any other children I wonder?
If they are with William & Annie in 1901, then maybe I'm right.

Added:
Emma Louisa Maud 23/8/1896 St Mary Paddington
Address 28 Campbell St

Alfred 17/4/1898  St Mary Paddington
22 Cambridge Place

I cannot find these children in 1901.  If the father had died, they must be going by a different name.
There is a chance Alfred died in 1899 (Registered Kensington)

There is a Nellie Burden born 1896 Paddington/Marylebone with William and Annie in 1901 and 1911.
Harry is also with them in 1901, born Paddington/Marylebone.  Their other children are born in various other places.
They could be Henry & Elizabeth's children.  Especially as I cannot find any other suitable births for children of William & Annie.

But where is Elizabeth????

Thanks for your help.
I have discovered that this Henry died in 1918, which means he was not the Henry I wanted and I have the wrong certificate!
What a surprise!!!!! >:(
