Frederick Austin b1876 Lambeth
« on: Thursday 10 April 14 10:49 BST (UK) »
The above was the son of George Frederick Austin b 1846 and Rachel nee Ritchie b1851. At 1911 census he is a boarder at 27 County Terrace St, New Kent Road, St Mary Newington, boarding with Rose Boore 33 and her daughter Rose 12, he was single and worked as a Grain Thawer at Brewery.
In 1916 he entered the army and recorded that he was married to Rose Anne Lockyer-I think the latter is Rose (Hannah) Boore and she married Richard G W Boore in 1898 at Lambeth, it looks like they were separated by 1911. I can't find a marriage or death for Frederick or Rose.
Help please.

Next of kin type thing is it or definitely spouse?

There are these deaths in Lambeth.

I see according to his army record he definitely says she was his wife and she has the name Austin, but there are no details as to when or where the marriage took place as there usually are, that has been left blank. Perhaps she was what used to be called a common law wife. How lucky that he had her full name, including Lockyer tattooed on him. I cant see any children from the marriage.

If her first husband was still alive then he couldn't marry her.  But do the dates tally - when did he put that information down?
If the deaths for Rose and her daughter are correct then maybe he tattooed in her memory.

There is a Richard Boore age 33 married boarder in Battersea but n/k if that was her husband.

Interesting case  :)

The date on his attestation paper is 10th January 1916, so Rose would have been alive then.
