With the earlier mention of Kilsyth Churchyard (guessing it showed on William's death reg?), have a look at this fab site www.memento-mori.co.uk/35.pdf  Quite a few Napiers showing there, including an entry for a William Napier in 1860. You can arrange a photo of the stone/inscription direct with the site for a small fee.

Monica

Added: Can also see an entry for Mary Baird/Napier there in 1909  :) Her death, elsewhere, is given as being on 5 May 1909 in Castlecary Drawbridge, Falkirk, aged 84, matching the year that shows on memento-mori.

This is a slight digression, but who were the parents of Mary Aitken Baird?

The reason I ask is there there aresome similarities with a branch of my own tree.

Margaret Baird, daughter of Thomas Baird and Marion Weir, married John Bryson on Old Monkland on 15 October 1847. According to the 1841 census, Thomas was a carter and lived at Old Mill, New Monkland, and his sons Thomas and John were both boatmen.

John Bryson was at various times a quarryman and a boatman. He and family lived mainly at Netherwood, Cumbernauld. His brother Archibald married Janet Cousland, who was born at Hollandbush, Denny.

I just wondered if all this was maybe a little more than mere coincidence?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
