Hi Tara
I agree the records are pretty sparce and Henry senior is difficult to pinpoint
it could be that He may have been from Salford as Henry settled there for awhile before
moving to Macclesfield
Thankyou for Your Help ....a different thought process is always useful
as one can often get stuck in a rut
Kind Regards

Hi Hugh

I kind of class 1800 as the cut off point with Irish Genealogy.

Prior to that you are super lucky to get leads.

It can help if the family had a super unusual surname.

If the family were from the higher classes it can help as there may be a mention in one of the old papers, BMD and the like.

Also, if there was an unusual occupation, again papers and directories can get you the odd lead.

BUT if you were an average Roman Catholic working as a labourer with a surname like Byrne you need to have patience and or madness to try and get back further  ;D ;D ;D

Best Of Luck

Tara
