Definitely could be a mistake because everything else seems to be a match. Including gaps within his travel for when his second son was born. Thank you for all your help.

From fiddling with the free search for baptisms on RootsIreland for the Patrick Joseph I posted in 1911 in Ireland - his parents were Hugh and Agnes Crean.

If you do get the marriage cert of Patrick Joseph Crean it would confirm his father.
