John Carmichael lookup please

Hi, i am trying to find any further information on John Carmichael,Dundee. I have a marriage i think is right,
John Carmichael married
Helen Couper (Cooper)
8/12/1848
Dundee,Angus Scotland.
They had sons James and William.I was hoping there may be more info on John eg Parents, siblings?.Thank you.

Have found the family in 1861 in Dundee but can find no trace of them after 1861.   John apparently born circa 1819 Orwell, Kinross.

Do you know what happened to the family after 1861?

Son Andrew died 1858 - son Alexander Carnegie died 1863 in Dundee.   So where did the family go after 1863?

Hi, sorry i should have said, John,Helen,James and William (G G Grandfather) came to NZ on the "Viola'1884 from Glasgow. I think as a part of a scheme for farming here in NZ.Thats why i have no knowledge of John and Helen.It took a while to even find the parents of William,until another kind distant relation saw a post and kindly ordered a marriage cert for William. Had his father John and mothers maiden name. We know nothing of John and Helen apart from what you have kindly found, thank you.

Hi, on the marriage cert for his son William it looks like 'Slater' but cant be sure, the writing isn't that good.They came here as some sort of immigration farming scheme, but that doesn't  mean i guess that he was a farmer before coming here to NZ.

Hi again.
The reason I asked is because I wondered if I had found John on 1841 Census as a Grocer's assistant.
I cannot find the family in 1851 or 61 .
Annette posted that she had found them on 1861. It would be interesting if she could tell us what John's occupation was then.

I don't know that this is your John but his age fits and he wasn't born in Angus. No relationships are recorded between other members of the household om the 1841. But the James Carmichael could be a brother or cousin.
