I am looking for the family members of thomas monk born1765 maybe in stourport
he was born into a boatbuilding family.

If I get chance when on Christmas/New Year holiday in WOR (12 miles from the History Centre) I will have a quick look for the Monk family - you said they were boatbuilders, well Stourport is a hell of a good place to look

I have searched the registers for Stourport(Lower Mitton) but there isnt one record for Monk during the years I searched 1758 - end of 1775 SORRY

just spotted this web site and monk by accident, My name is Jeremy 'Monk'-Hawksworth, I'm a direct descendent of Joeseph Benjamin Monk he was my great great grandfather, my father knows all the history. Also I've met Jack Monk he's the great grandson of thomas monk, not sure if he's still alive, I met him by accident (again) at a British Waterways do. hope this helps

I know it will be a very long job but as I couldnt find your Monk's at Stourport I wonder if its worth you trying to work your way up/down the Severn to try & trace them
