Oh dear

You have been busy, while I was collecting and putting the rubbish out, and very efficient too. Will have to wait till I next get across, so that I can go to LMA and see the Captain's registers, now I have his Cert No.

So Annie died two years before he married Florence ( from the Cheese shop down the road - parents owned it). Was Flo's first marriage, even though she was, 45 yrs old, dear girl had been carring for mother for some time, and only married when mother died.

Thanks all

Am a bit lost on re-read - Who was baptised 1882, but born in 1886 - is this one of the Capt's children, and slip of hand on dates ?

1891 Census, I assume in March or April, falls in dead right, as ship launch was not till the June.

Full story on 'Terrible Adventure' - August 15th 1900

A terrible experience has befallen two Forest Gate gentlemen.
Captain Logsdail, of Hamfrith road and Mr. Harry Carter of the 'Albert' public house, started on a yachting tour from Tilbury to Ryde.

They left Tilbury basin in the yacht 'Esther', but when off Margate, in consequence of the Gale, they anchored the little five ton vessel. During the night the cable parted, and the yacht was driven before the wind on to the long nose rocks.

They at once launched the dinghy, but when they had got about thirty yards the boat overturned.
After a considerable struggle the men swam back to the yacht, clinging to the keel with a strength born of desperation. Hours passed, and the yacht swung off the rocks and drifted towards the Goodwins, and, just as the strength of it's one-time occupants was failing, they were fortunately sighted by the liner Douglas, rescued, and landed at Deal. Both men were thoroughly prostrated by the terrible night's experience.

I love the style of the writer.
