Can't find on Census
« on: Wednesday 21 May 14 19:00 BST (UK) »
Hi,
could anyone help me with this?
I have been researching one line of my family tree and I can find them in the 1850 census but not in the 1840 or 1860 census.
The family I am looking for are:
William Bevan, Head, 59,, Brecon, Llangattock
Ann Bevan, Wife, 49, Monmouth, Abergavenny
William Bevan, son, 12, Brecon, llangynidr
John Bevan, Son, 6, Monmouth, Bedwellty
Jennet Bevan, Daughter, 8, Brecon, llangynidr

In the 1850 census they are living at somewhere called Rassa Houses in Beaufort in Breconshire, which is close to Ebbw Vale. From 1870 onwards I know what happened to William Bevan but I'm not sure about the rest of the family. I have searched all the censuses but I can't find them.

Any help would be great thanks

Hi,
thanks for replying.
I also found that William Bevan, but I wasn't sure if that was him and if it was I wonder what happened to the rest of the family.
Its difficult tracing this side of my family tree because some of the names are very common to the area or shared by different generations. For instance William Bevan's father was also called William Bevan.

Hi again, that 1841 is of interest as the first daughter was a Jennett, so was their a marriage of a William Bevan to an Ann Thomas?

So keep on the backburner!

Hi,
thanks for the information.
The marriage of Jennet Bevan could be interesting, I will look that up.

I will look up the marriage of William Bevan and Ann Thomas in 1835, that could be another possible connection

I was aware of William Bevan in the 1841 census, he seems the most likely fit but I could never work out if there was a connection. If that is the same William Bevan from the 1851 census, where are his parents?

I have a birth certificate for William Bevan from 1838. The mother is Ann Thomas and the father is William Bevan.
