Hornsby
« on: Sunday 10 August 14 17:59 BST (UK) »
I`m wondering if any one can find more on this family.  I am hoping they may be parents of Thomas Hornsby who was in Llangollen in 1858 (see other post)
What was Thomas`s occupation. Was he an  ostler or similar
Marriage
Thomas Hornby   Spouse's Name: Charlotte Shepherd
08 Jan 1821   Event Place: St. Johns Parish, Bedwardine, Worcester, England

Is this the correct baptism, is there an occupation for father ?
Ancestry & Family Search
Thomas Hornsby Baptism Date:17 Jan 1831
Baptism Place:St Andrew, Worcester,
Father: Thomas Hornsby
Mother:  Charlotte

Are these the parents, I can`t find either in 1841.
Burial 21 Feb 1844
HORNSBY  CHARLOTTE  1796  1844  Worcester,

It seems Thomas died shortly after the census .
Deaths Sep qtr  1851  HORNSBY Thomas   Aston Worcestershire

1851 HO107; Piece: 2046; Folio: 249; Page: 15
Aston , Ombersley , Worcestershire
Thomas Hornsby lodger widower  65 ostler b Bedford Warwickshire

Thanks.

Not sure this will help but there is a potential sibling Elizabeth Ann with the same parents born 1835
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NLT7-TRZ

I can't see her is 1841 but this could be her in 1871 listed as niece
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V5TW-V61

In 1851 she could be living as a niece as below in  Trentham Staffordshire

Benjamin Smith    56 b Worcestershire
Jane Smith 53
Ann Smith    28
Elizabeth Hornsby 16 b Mathon, Worcestershire House  Servant

Thanks, I`m trying to find Thomas the fathers occupation, to see if it`s a match for his sons marriage details.

I think this is the family in 1841 as transcribed - Looks like Hornsby.  They were living at  St Peter?? Blockhouse, Worcester.  Sadly no occupations are listed

Thomas    Harrisby    Male    40 Worcestershire
Charlotte    Harrisby    Female    40    Worcestershire
John    Harrisby    15        Worcestershire
Thomas    Harrisby     10    Worcestershire
Elizabeth    Harrisby     6    Worcestershire

Charlotte's burial in 1844 was at St Peters

Freereg have a baptism for a John Hornsby 7 Mar 1825,
It's Worcestershire St Andrew Pershore, Parents are Thomas and Charlotte Hornsby and Thomas is a Horse Keeper Abode High Street.
There is also a Henry John b 29 June 1822.
I don't know Worcester districts and could be way out but thought it worth a mention :)

Many thanks. I`m not familiar with this part of the country either.

I did a search of St. Johns Parish, Bedwardine, in 1841 by looking through all the 5 districts, but they weren`t there.

It does look good though.

Perhaps Charlotte and Thomas`s burials would give a clue,

I found the 1841 census, I agree it does look like Hornsby, shame he didn`t have an occupation.

The only thing I wondered about , was Thomas in a separate   household ?

I can see odd marks in the border, but would think it unlikely that Thomas was in a separate household with the surname of Thomas being dittoed for Charlotte and the children.
