Hi Keith, have you come across anyone with the Darch surname?

Thank you, Billiegirl

Billiegirl,
Just had a look, and there are no DARCH's I'm afraid, the nearest in alphabetical order are DARBY and DARE (8 of them), and a DARSON...
Regards, Keith

Billiegirl,
That's fine, it only took me a moment.  And yes, it's one of the saddest, most savage episodes in British/English history, I think…

…I'm afraid there is no-one by that surname in the list, the nearest being a John SHIERE and a Philip SHIER.
The very first name in the list is: "AARON, probably a negro servant, Mr Palmer's man of Bishop's Hull (Somerset), absent, not taken - but I don't imagine this is who you are looking for!
Keith

Hi Keith, I have just seen this! Is there anymore information on John and Philip? I've got quite a few Shire/Shier variants in my tree.  :)

May be of interest to some. George Jeffreys, 1st Baron of Wem (The Hanging Judge) 1645 to 1689. Lord Chancellor.

Wiki only places his residence at Lowe Hall, Wem. However, he lived at Bulstrode Park, near Gerrards Cross, Bucks.

Two of his daughters were married at St Mary's, Hedgerley. Bulstrode may well have been within the parish of Hedgerley. I can't think of any old church at Gerrards Cross. Gerrards was originally Jarret's. Just a crossroads intersecting the now A40 with a road running from Slough to Amersham etc. There was a gibbet there where highwaymen were hanged.
