Thomas Sawyer 1801
« on: Tuesday 07 June 11 14:56 BST (UK) »
i am looking for some information on this gentleman. i have him on the 1841 census in which he give his birth place as oxfordshire. with no details as to where, however all the family afer this man were bron in cuddesden.

firstly can anyone find his birth and his parents

and secondly can anyone find his wifes elizabeths surname and their marriage? on the 1842 census he is living with elizabeth a his wife.  the first child i have for them was born 1821 so this may help with the marriage date.

thanks

is this the only thomas sawyer that you can find in that time frame? the only reference i have for his dob is that on the 1841 census in which he gives 1801, but then again who ever really knew their birth year then?!

thank you very much for you help x

just found a 1841 census for a william sawyer and ann. her birth is down as 1781, so that marriage might be a little to early but again the dob on a census is a little 'out' sometimes

Hi.

As you may well know, ages in the 1841 Census were generally rounded up or down, so it is a good possibility it could be right.

Ages throughout the various Census are also a bit hit and miss. >:(

But at least you have a start. :)

I am a descendant of Thomas Sawyer and Elizabeth William's eldest son, Richard who married Elizabeth Judd.

Richard's eldest son, Albert Thomas Sawyer immigrated to Canada in 1871, my direct ancestor.

I would like to take this lineage back further and also find missing siblings to Thomas (B:1796 or 1801) and fill in some gaps for Richard's family.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kelly
Welcome to Roots chat - there is so much information and good advice to be had in here so good luck with your hunting.

The post you have added to is 3 years old and whilst I am sure some of those who have entered information are still actively researching do not be totally reliant.

It maybe  more fruitful to post / begin your own thread on here. In so doing it may get better results or a wider response.
Advice given with best intent.
Good luck
