The Manor, Bearcross, Bournemouth

I have a Lillian (bap. Cecilia Lilian) Selfe of The Manor, Bearcross, Bournemouth who died at the Herbert Sanatorium in June 1954.
Can anyone advise as to what The Manor was at this time?  She left over £700 - so doesn't seem like she would have been a servant.
(She may have been a nurse).

Records of the Herbert Sanatorium are held at the Dorset History Centre, Dorchester;  they might also have details of The Manor at Bear Cross.

Hi,

I used to live not too far from Bear Cross and the area has been heavily developed from 1960s.  You could try emailing the local paper (Echo) asking if anyone remembers the area in 1950s.
