do you have george and lilians marr cert
if you do what was georges fathers name and his occupation.
if you do not have it here is the GRO index for the marriage
name. george britton
y.o.r. 1907.
qtr. oct/nov/dec.
dist. redruth.
county. cornwall
vol. 5c.
page. 434.
also on  the same page ;lilian winifred laity
you can order the cert from the General Registry Office
it will cost you £7
you should then be able to get georges fathers name and go backwards from there

Hi

I have got the birth cert of Leonard Garfield BRITTON b 4 Jan 1916 to Lilian Winifred BRITTON  in Illogan Cornwall but no name of the father.

I have sent for the marrage cert of Lilian and George BRITTON.

I cant find George BRITTON in the census

any pointers please.

Thanks

Does the birth certificate give a maiden for Lilian? If it doesn't, it would suggest that the birth was to a single woman. If it does give her maiden name as Laity, it suggests that George was not the father.

The marriage cert will give you the details of both fathers which should make the search for George easier.

Possible for Lilian in Camborne in 1901 RG13/2244 folio 97 pg 2
