The closest I can find using the "RootsIreland" website index is an 1845 baptism for a William Fitzpatrick to parents Timothy and Catherine, Mountrath RC parish.  The record content is pay to view. Nothing to say 100% that this is your William however.

Church records for his marriage may give his mothers name.

the marriage was consummated in the presence of a Thomas Fitzpatrick and a Norah McCarthy, siblings of the bride and groom perhaps?

This is very frustrating, I spent some time in researching my post.

I had a similar thought kingskerswell!

Unfortunately sirsimon you are still caught with details for proving facts
You can only surmise the relationship of Thomas and Norah to your ancestors
and as they are common names find a William with a brother Thomas and a common father of Timothy may well be correct, however you would need an address or other piece of information to be sure

Also try to stick to one topic or paste a link to a new one in an existing one
You can use the "report to moderator" icon to ask that one be locked
Some researchers do not look at every area each day and duplication is frustrating as mentioned

There are 12 Timothy FitzPATRICKs in Queens Co/Laois on Griffiths Valuations from the late 1840s
These could all be the same person or 12 people - but it shows the prevalence of the name and the chance that there was more than one family with Timothy as the head in the county

Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

Hello

I think the Mountrath record is his, since I got hold of William's Royal irish Constabulary service record. The officer of recommendation is Sub Inspector Bracken, whom served in Mountrath. Since he had to know William personally, William must have come from Mountrath
